A Tale of Hours [2013]
An evening of stargazing opens a window on the past of Wimborne Minster for Jack and his grandmother.
He shares her fascination with the night sky and the passing of time, but worries that she’s losing her memory.
As the Minster's ancient astronomical clock turns, and time swirls around them, strange things begin to happen and they see scenes of Minster life from hundreds of years ago.
The Quarterjack, the wooden soldier who rings the quarter hours on the church tower, comes to life and joins them on an adventure into the past.
A Tale of Hours has been voiced, drawn, animated and directed by Year 7 and 8 students at St Michael's Middle School, Colehill, supported by Sharon Hayden and Alastair Nisbet from ScreenPLAY.
The script by Gill Horitz was adapted from the original play ‘A Tale of Hours’, devised by Wimborne Community Theatre and written by Tony Horitz, Gill Horitz and Sharon Muiruri, and performed in and around Wimborne Minster by Wimborne Community Theatre in 1993.
The film has been funded with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
